About

The University Agency for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research was established by Royal Decree on 30 Rabi’ al-Thani of 1426 AH, corresponding to June 7, 2005 AD. It assumes responsibility for developing graduate studies and scientific research at the university, as an integral part of the university and society system, and plays a fundamental role in achieving the university’s mission and achieving professional mastery and excellence in research skills among university staff, through developing scientific research and creating a stimulating environment for it. Activating postgraduate programs, overseeing specialized scientific conferences to enrich scientific research, communicating with experts in various scientific fields, and concluding numerous scientific agreements with distinguished scientific institutions both domestically and internationally, all contribute effectively to building a knowledge society. To achieve its goals and mission, the agency supervises the Deanship of Scientific Research, the Institute of Research and Consulting Studies, and the Department of Library Affairs.

The University Agency for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research seeks to provide an environment that stimulates innovation and excellence in its educational and research outputs. In the field of graduate studies, the Agency is keen to graduate distinguished pioneering generations and to create graduate studies programs that achieve the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 and provide for the future needs of the Kingdom. The agency also focuses on developing scientific research, which is considered one of the most important tools for implementing the ambitious Saudi Vision 2030 and for the university's participation in economic and social development and the transition to a knowledge-based economy.

The agency is committed to academic and research excellence by providing state-of-the-art infrastructure (libraries, information resources, diverse electronic services, institutes, specialized centers, and laboratory equipment), and by securing ongoing funding through research centers, endowed chairs, and other means. The agency also selects prestigious international universities for sending teaching assistants and lecturers abroad. Furthermore, the university's Agency for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research provides electronic services that facilitate informed decision-making.

attractive educational environment for postgraduate studies, provide unique programs that are compatible with national and international objectives, and link its outputs to the university’s research priorities, in a way that helps develop society and solve its problems. The Vice Presidency is also responsible for supporting scientific research, determining research priorities that are compatible with national strategies and goals, strengthening the infrastructure that guarantees the quality of research and innovative outputs, and focusing on applied research with an economic effect that contributes to the transfer and localization of technology. The University Vice Presidency for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research also works through its various departments to organize specialized scientific conferences and forums, strengthen local and international strategic partnerships, protect the intellectual property rights of university employees and students, provide updated books, references and databases, in addition to following up on scholarships and providing them with the necessary support. The Vice Presidency also provides its services to all faculty members and is attached to them from the beginning of their carriers, then promotions to the end of service. Duties

1. Implementing the university's general research policy.

2. Supervising, monitoring, and guiding all deanships, research centers, and departments affiliated with the agency towards achieving their objectives, and working to meet their needs.

3. Defining the university's research priorities.

4. Monitoring the implementation of the university's research plan and submitting progress reports to the university president.

5. Supervising the quality of graduate programs and their outcomes, and monitoring their performance.

6. Overseeing the development of mechanisms and guidelines regulating the agency's work and procedures, as well as those of its affiliated units.

7. Supervising the university's scientific societies and monitoring their achievement of their objectives.

8. Supervising the establishment of the university's scientific journals and monitoring their achievement of their intended goals.

9. Supervising scientific research activities and implementing the relevant regulations, bylaws, and decisions. 10. Creating a stimulating academic environment for students, faculty members, and graduate studies and research staff by improving the infrastructure resources that encourage scientific research and innovation.

11. Ensuring the application of transparent and fair procedures in the faculty promotion process.

12. Overseeing the recruitment of distinguished faculty members and talent.

13. Monitoring the implementation of procedures related to faculty sabbatical leave.

14. Monitoring the university's scholarship recipients in coordination with the cultural attachés.

15. Supervising translation and Arabization efforts to contribute to meeting the university's needs for translating and Arabizing scientific references and sources.

16. Providing the necessary learning resources and modern technologies to support graduate programs and pioneering scientific research.

17. Overseeing international cooperation initiatives, student and faculty exchange programs with leading universities, and twinning programs in research and postgraduate studies, both locally and internationally.

18. Monitoring the implementation of international cooperation agreements and the extent to which their objectives are achieved.

19. Effectively planning and activating research chairs at the university.

20. Coordinating and overseeing the organization of conferences, scientific meetings, and scientific societies.

21. Overseeing visiting professor applications from all university departments and assisting visiting professors in obtaining the necessary visas to visit the university.
