Department Overview

The library is the beating heart of the university, due to the various scientific services it provides.

With the sources of information it provides for professors, students, and all segments of society. The University of Hail has established its libraries to achieve the university's three goals, which are education. Scientific research and community service. The Department of Library Affairs technically and administratively supervises all library affairs at the university, whether in the central library or in the female students’ section. 
The administration also supervises the technical and administrative departments and support services, organizes and participates in book fairs, and distributes publications issued by the university’s Scientific Publishing Center.

The Department of Library Affairs also works to support and provide all sources of paper and digital knowledge and make them available to beneficiaries from inside and outside the university, especially in light of the great developments the world is witnessing in the field of information technology and the digital trend. There has become an urgent need to renew and develop the services provided by Library Affairs, with the increase in... Demand for information in all forms and languages.

The university library activates cultural events and determines the skills of university employees in searching information bases and knowledge sources

The university library participates in exhibitions, exchanges, and gifts together and between other university libraries and a number of doctors, bodies, and cultural attachés through their participation through the universities of books and peer-reviewed scientific journals.

Management tasks

  1. Providing diverse scientific resources for teachers and researchers.
  2. Preserving, archiving, recording, organizing, and preparing diverse information containers, sources, and scientific references, and carrying out technical procedures for books and references, including indexing, digitizing, and arranging them.
  3. Supervising, guiding, and technically following up on the Central Library, the deep libraries in the colleges, and related university units.
  4. The driving force behind university science and knowledge.
  5. Cooperating with libraries and other similar and specialized entities with a common interest in all manuscripts, or using them in their advanced studies and research.
  6. Employing and utilizing technical and technological techniques, and monitoring the profits and developments in the Saudi Digital Library, including the formation of the use of these resources and their access by beneficiaries.​
  7. Providing and supplying the library with knowledge resources of various types and applications, including scientific books and theses, manuscripts, databases, and electronic writing. Providing books, references, and various university curricula in all affiliated libraries.
  8. Supervising and following up on the costs of information resources and services, and advocating for judicial developments related to the provisions of its judgments.
  9. Presenting book reviews and participating in other reviews in the field of individual library services according to approved procedures and systems.
  10. Introducing scholarly production and services, searching for meaning, and other review of university materials using appropriate means, educating and informing library users about the library's services and procedures, and arranging approved procedures and systems.
  11. Designing and preparing measures, mechanisms, and forms for university libraries and their services, and organizing lending to preserve the wealth of ideas.​
  12. Providing modern, sufficient communication, information, and computer facilities in libraries to help me use these resources.
  13. Prepare a distribution schedule to ensure full access to global banking services for all members of society, and to identify specific areas of these services to include all members of society.
  14. Work to provide computer space.
  15. Any other tasks that represent the department and fall under its jurisdiction.

​​​​​Automated index: ​

​​​It enables beneficiaries to conduct searches and retrieve information through the automated system (Knowledge Portal) of the Library Affairs Department on the university website and access paper resources available in the university libraries​


​​Loan service: 

It is considered one of the public services that university libraries help provide, and it is one of the most important indicators of the library’s effectiveness, as well as its relationship with the beneficiary community, renewing loans, reserving books, and following up on loaned materials.​

​​​Reference services:

This service is provided in university libraries as a direct reference service for answering reference questions, which is provided to all beneficiaries directly, guiding all patrons and directing them to all the places they need within the library, teaching and training beneficiaries on the use of various references, and providing all appropriate references specific to the researcher.​

​

​​​Photography service: 

It is one of the most important services necessary in all types of libraries for all beneficiaries. This service helps in reducing paper, and all materials are scanned into books with the aim of helping patrons transfer the pictures and printed forms they need to a file that can be transferred and processed.​


​​Beneficiary training services:

It is one of the most important services that receive great attention from libraries and information centers, and it is formed in training for all beneficiaries on how to use the various resources and services provided by university libraries.​​
