About

The University Vice Rectorate for Academic Affairs was established in accordance with Higher Education Council Resolution No. 1427/41/4 AH, issued on 2/2/1427 AH, and Royal Approval No. (3331/M B) dated 25/4/1427 AH. The Vice Rectorate for Academic Affairs is among the first established at the University of Hail, with the aim of contributing to the development of the educational process, including its programs and courses, as well as the intellectual, skill-based, professional, and personal development of university students. It also aims to elevate students in all aspects of their university experience, by overcoming any academic obstacles or difficulties , providing all necessary resources and educational opportunities, improving the educational services offered to students, providing high-quality educational and academic resources , and extending educational opportunities to members of the wider community. To achieve these goals, the Vice Rectorate for Academic Affairs has established several key supporting deanships, including the Deanship of Student Affairs, the Deanship of Admissions and Registration, and the Deanship of Quality and Development.

Since its establishment in 2005, the University of Hail has been committed to enhancing all aspects of the academic experience . The University's Vice Rectorate for Academic Affairs placed students at the center of the educational process, ensuring a distinguished learning environment . It strives to develop knowledge, foster innovation and creativity  across academic fields, and offers diverse educational programs  in various disciplines.

The University has experienced remarkable growth in the number of colleges and academic programs it offers. It comprises several colleges, including six health colleges , five engineering and science colleges , and three humanities colleges.

These colleges provide a wide range of advanced academic programs at the bachelor's level, as well as, diploma programs offered through the Applied College. In addition, the University offers several higher diploma and master's degree programs. Many new academic programs are introduced annually in accordance with the University's strategic plan, aligning with labor market demands and contributing to the realization of Saudi Vision 2030, the achievement of sustainable development, and the fulfilment of the Human Capability Development Program objectives.

Following its restructuring, which included the merger of the University Vice Rectorate for Development and Business and the establishment of several new departments such as the Community Responsibility Department and the Scientific Equipment and Laboratories Department, The Vice Rectorate for Academic Affairs continues to play a vital role in driving the university's academic, developmental, and community objectives. It serves as a cornerstone of the university's educational framework, community engagement, and volunteer initiatives. It focuses primarily on the vital role of teaching and learning processes, fostering teamwork, creativity, development, innovation, and initiative in all educational and academic aspects.

Vice Rectorate for Academic Affairs is committed to providing a supportive and stimulating academic environment for all programs, colleges, and university students through continuous coordination and collaboration with colleges and supporting deanships. It is also committed to meet the requirements for academic accreditation for all college programs and works professionally to provide robust support systems for students, faculty members, and other beneficiaries, with the aim of creating an attractive and stimulating academic environment.

The University Vice Rectorate for Academic Affairs is one of the important pillars that helps the university succeed in achieving its goals, and carrying out its ; its primary mission of education. In this context, the  Vice Rectorate for Academic Affairs is committed to operating in a professional,  institutional manner that enhances a culture of teamwork, and  encourages serious  efforts towards creativity, development, innovation and initiative in all educational and academic matters.

The Vice Rectorate for Academic Affairs seeks continuous coordination and joint efforts with colleges and supporting deanships, to fulfil academic accreditation requirements related to education and learning. It provides support to students, faculty members and beneficiaries by providing an attractive and stimulating academic environment. This environment serves as the starting point and guiding direction for all elements of the university system, enhancing teaching and learning processes  while advancing community service  across all its sectors. These principles form the core guiding framework for the Vice Rectorate for Academic Affairs in its dealings with all standing committees, colleges and support deanships.

The development of courses and academic plans, and the introduction of new programs  in accordance with labour market requirements, is one of the most important priorities of the Vice Rectorate for Academic Affairs in the current and future period. is also committed to achieving excellence in teaching and learning, and developing academic counseling mechanisms, and enabling student to pursue their studies in line with internationally recognized academic standards. In addition, Vice Rectorate for Academic Affairs seeks to establish internal and external partnerships, provide creative and stimulating educational environment, improve student services, provide all material and human resources to deliver a distinguished education service, and attract distinguished talent to meet the needs of specialized programsin various fields, in line with development plans and labor market needs. The University Vice Rectorate for Academic Affairs also seeks to develop the student's leadership skills through targeted academic practices in accordance with the highest international standards.

In general, the Vice Rectorate for Academic Affairs focuses its efforts on achieving the University's strategic objectives, which achieve the vision and mission of the university towards excellence and leadership. These efforts are undertaken with the continued support from His Excellency the President of the University, in fulfillment of the directives of the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and his trustworthy Crown Prince - may God protect him. In developing the higher education system in accordance with the Kingdom's Vision 2030.

Based on the foregoing, the Vice Rectorate for Academic Affairs is working to achieve its future vision through a number of core strategic priorities. These include; developing academic  programs and study plans, creating new programs based on  informed by labour market needs and the specialisations offered by the University of Hail, developing the standards of the teaching staff, activating mechanisms for monitoring and evaluating the implementation of academic practices across the University's colleges, developing academic counseling systems, preparing regulations for students and faculty members, implementing the University Teacher Program for lecturers, developing the teaching staff's skills in modern learning and teaching strategies and assessment methods, integrating e-learning into all teaching and learning activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities of the University Vice Rectorate for Academic Affairs:

  • Maintaining continuous communication through various means with the of college deans and deanships affiliated with the University Vice Rectorate for Academic Affairs, while providing support, assistance, and guidance in everything that supports students and achieves their academic progress.
  • Studying methods of developing performance in various academic practices.
  • Developing programs and curriculum plans, and providing support and assistance to expand specializations and departments.
  • Cooperating with colleges to determine student intake numbers that can be accepted into each college, based on available capacity in each college, and according to the needs of the labor market and society.
  • Working through relevant committees and coordinating with colleges to suggest books and references that departments and colleges need to facilitate the educational process.
  • Continuous supervision and monitoring of the duties and teaching loads of faculty members in accordance with the determined rules and regulations.
  • Developing new academic programs that are compatible with the requirements of the labor market.
  • Providing technical guidance, administrative support, and assistance to colleges and academic programs to meet quality requirements and achieve local and international academic accreditation.
  • Reviewing and developing curriculum plans and academic systems of the colleges in accordance with quality and accreditation requirements.
  • Active follow- up of student activities and the student fund in coordination with the Deanship of Student Affairs.
  • Preparing guidelines, plans, and models that achieve outstanding and advanced performance in curriculum development and creating program.
  • Actively monitoring developments in curriculum plans and academic programs  both the local and international levels.
  • Coordinating with relevant authorities within and outside the university to organize workshops and training courses in educational and academic fields.
  • Supervising the implementation of academic policies and university admission policies at the bachelor's and Applied College diploma levels.

Standing Committees

Standing committees of the Vice Rectorate for Academic Affairs:

The Vice Rectorate for Academic Affairs performs its duties through the authority granted to the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and through several standing committees chaired by the Vice Rector. These committees review the issues brought before them  in accordance with their respective mandates, and they submit their recommendations through formal meeting minutes for the University president's approval and guidance.
