The College of Dentistry - University of Hail was established by Resolution No. (1476) dated 15/2/1432 AH, with the aim of qualifying students scientifically by providing them with basic information and knowledge in all sciences of dentistry and oral surgery, as well as deepening the importance of continuous and self-learning for students in order to maintain their distinguished scientific and professional level, as well as training them clinically by providing them with the required scientific and practical skills and experiences to provide the best treatment services in all specialties of dentistry and oral surgery. The college also seeks to deepen the importance of scientific research and continuous and self-directed learning among students, in order to maintain their distinguished scientific and professional level, and to provide students with the rules, etiquette, ethics, and behaviors of the dental profession, and to develop a sense of loyalty, belonging, and responsibility among students towards society; this is achieved by emphasizing the importance of active participation in improving the general oral and dental health of all members of society. The college began accepting the first batch of students for the Dentistry and Oral Surgery program (second year/level) on September 1, 2011, after the completion of the preparatory year requirements in two semesters during the 2010-2011 academic year. At the beginning of the college in 2011, separate buildings were allocated for the male and female sections. The college (male section) then moved to its new location on the main campus in 2017, and the female section also moved to a new building on campus. The university was established at the Aja campus in 2016. The college building located on the ring road witnessed tremendous growth in terms of infrastructure and equipment between 2014 and 2017. During this time, 60 clinics were added to the male students' section (ring road) and 60 clinics to the female students' section on the Aja campus. Pre-clinical laboratories were also added to the infrastructure.

The first batch of students (admitted in 2010) graduated in 2016. Many graduates work in both the public and private sectors.

Several students from the college have also received scholarships and are currently studying abroad to pursue advanced degrees in specialized fields of dentistry.

The college comprises four departments: the Department of Preventive Dentistry, the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Diagnostic Sciences, the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Restorative Dentistry, and the Department of Basic Dental Sciences. The Dentistry program received international accreditation from the German Accreditation Agency AHPGS in 2019. The program is currently undergoing local accreditation from the National Center for Academic Evaluation and Accreditation.​
