1. Oversee the daily operations of all university laboratories, ensuring the maintenance, cleanliness, and operational efficiency of facilities.
2. Manage access control and ensure that use is restricted to authorized personnel only.
3. Ensure the proper calibration and maintenance of equipment and devices, and conduct regular follow-ups to address any updates.
4. Facilitate the acquisition of new equipment and manage the equipment lifecycle from purchase to disposal.
5. Develop, implement, and monitor laboratory safety protocols in accordance with university, local, and international regulations.
6. Ensure the safe handling, storage, and proper disposal of chemical and biological materials.
7. Conduct regular occupational safety audits, risk assessments, and emergency response drills.
8. Provide orientation programs and safety training sessions for new laboratory users, including students, faculty, and staff.
9. Contribute to the ongoing professional development of laboratory technicians and managers to keep them abreast of advancements in laboratory technology and safety protocols, in coordination with the Deanship of Quality and Development. 10. Develop strategies and techniques for energy conservation, reducing water and chemical usage, and promoting recycling programs.
11. Maintain an accurate and up-to-date inventory of laboratory equipment, supplies, and consumables.
12. Prepare purchase and maintenance requests to ensure the continuity of laboratory services.
13. Assist faculty and students in planning and conducting experiments and provide technical support when needed.
14. Provide administrative and logistical support for research projects, including managing shared laboratory schedules and equipment.
15. Develop and manage the laboratory budget, ensuring that financial resources are appropriately allocated for equipment, maintenance, and operational needs.
16. Promote interdisciplinary collaboration by facilitating shared access to laboratory spaces and technologies across departments and research centers.
17. Ensure that all laboratory work adheres to ethical standards, particularly regarding research on humans and animals, data integrity, and environmental responsibility.
18. Any other duties assigned by management and within the scope of the position.
