On Monday, August 26, 2024, the Acting President of Hail University, Prof. Dr. Zaid bin Muhalhil Al-Shammari, welcomed His Excellency the Governor of the General Authority for Defense Development, Prof. Dr. Falih bin Abdullah Al-Sulaiman, and his accompanying delegation at the Conference Center in the university campus. A meeting was held between both parties to discuss aspects of joint cooperation and coordination to establish possible mechanisms between the university and the authority.
During the visit, His Excellency the Governor emphasized that "the authority is making significant strides in connecting universities and research and development centers by directing research outputs and human capabilities towards defense development, aiming to achieve independence and leadership for the Kingdom in the defense sector."
The Acting President of the University accompanied the Governor and his delegation, along with members of the University Council, on a tour of the colleges and research centers relevant to the authority's activities. The tour included the College of Computer Science and Engineering and the College of Engineering, where they reviewed laboratories and presentations of student and faculty projects in both colleges. The visiting delegation also toured the administrative tower, including Ajja Oasis for Education and Technology.
This visit is part of the authority's initiatives to connect relevant entities and to qualify and empower national talents in fields related to its activities, thereby supporting the localization of the defense research and development sector in the Kingdom. The visit also aims to establish related programs and projects between the university and the authority.
