University of Ha’il Students Win First Place in the Undergraduate Student Paper Competition at the 9th European International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management – Barcelona 2026

Three engineering students from the University of Ha’il achieved first place in the Undergraduate Student Paper Competition at the 9th European International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management, organized by the IEOM Society International and hosted by EUSS School of Engineering, affiliated with the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain, from July 20–22, 2026.

The winning students are: Majed Thamer Alshammari, Ali Arif Alshammari, Abdulkarim Khalid Alshammari, from the College of Engineering, University of Ha’il, along with Serhan Shaman Alshammari from the Department of Industrial Engineering, College of Engineering, University of Ha’il.

Their research paper, titled: “Six Sigma Beyond the Toolkit: Culture and Institutional Determinants for Implementation in Saudi Arabia and Germany,” examines cultural and institutional factors influencing the implementation of Six Sigma methodology in Saudi Arabia and Germany.

This achievement highlights the excellence of University of Ha’il students and their ability to compete in international academic forums. It also reflects the quality of the university’s academic and research programs and its ongoing support for participation in global conferences and the development of students’ scientific and research skills.
