     Academic integrity policy

     The University of Hail is committed to ethical values derived from our Islamic values and consistent with the policies of the Ministry of Education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, 
     where academic integrity represents an ethical system for faculty members and      students at the university.

     Principles of academic integrity for faculty members.
     Commitment to the principles of scientific honesty, integrity, intellectual property rights principles, and publishing principles.
     Maintaining the confidentiality and privacy of private information and data collected from individuals or institutions.
     Indicating the source of educational content used by the faculty member when preparing the content of electronic courses.
     The faculty member bears full responsibility when he violates any principle of intellectual property and copyright.
     The intellectual property of the electronic courses and digital content developed through the learning management system belongs to the University of Hail.

     Principles of academic integrity for students:
     Commitment to the principles of scientific honesty, integrity, intellectual property rights principles, and publishing principles.
     Students are committed to ensuring that all work submitted for evaluation (assignments, research, tests, etc.) is original and self-contained, whether submitted by a student or an approved group of students, 
     as the university absolutely does not allow cheating, forgery, plagiarism, or impersonation.It is necessary to indicate the source of the educational content used by the student.
     If a student violates one of the principles of academic integrity, such as cheating on tests or assignments, plagiarism, or impersonating another person, penalties will be applied against him as stated in the educational regulations.

     Practices followed at the University of Hail to detect and reduce academic integrity violations in electronic courses:
     The e-learning system used at the University of Hail, “Blackboard,” contains the “SafeAssign” tool. This tool compares the content submitted by the student with a group of academic research sources to reveal areas of similarity between them. 
     This tool is used to ensure that there is no cheating and unacceptable quotations in assignments and projects. Which students are assigned.

     The principle for semester and final exams is to be in person at the university, but when preparing and submitting electronic exams, some practices must be followed that will reduce cheating and impersonation, such as:​
    -The student acknowledges his commitment to academic integrity policies and procedures.
    -In electronic tests, reliance is placed on building question banks for each course.
    -Adopting assessment methods that do not depend on memorization and retrieval and avoiding direct questions that are easy to cheat.
    -Take into account the appropriate length of the test with the number of questions.
    -Ensure that each question is placed on a separate page, taking into account the activation of the feature that does not allow returning to the previous question after completing it.
    -When preparing questions, you must ensure their diversity and use the random block method to ensure that they differ from one student to another.
    -The answers and test results are not available during and immediately after the test.
    -Use technical solutions such as browsers that prevent copying or opening other programs while performing tests.


Intellectual property rights at the University of Hail

     Intellectual property is defined as the attribution of property rights to their owners and owners, such as patents, publishing, and trademarks. Intellectual property allows its owners to monopolize its use for a certain period. 
     It is also a legal right that protects  innovations, inventions, and works of art from violation. Intellectual property rights include copyrights, patents, works of art, industrial designs, and any geographical data.
    ● Hail University owns all intellectual rights to any electronic content developed at the university or one of its facilities.
    ● The university owns all intellectual rights to the recorded lectures and related electronic content, including question banks and tests of all kinds, and the university has the right to use them for educational purposes.
    ● The faculty member must adhere to intellectual property rights when developing a course or creating new electronic content. This is considered a release of the university’s responsibility for any violation by the faculty member of intellectual 
         property rights and the resulting legal consequences.
    ● All materials published on the university’s website, its deanships, and other affiliated websites are subject to the university’s intellectual property rights, including the following:
        o Scientific research
        o Books and publications
        o Images, logos and texts
    ● It is prohibited for any university employee to publish anything that violates the regulations of the countries or the university or the norms of society, or to use an inappropriate method in writing or displaying electronic content including texts, images and ideas.
    ● The student is committed to the principles of scientific honesty and integrity, the principles of intellectual property rights, and the principles of publishing in all activities and tasks during his studies.

     Electronic attendance policy

     Virtual attendance through virtual classes in e-learning and distance education programs is considered equivalent to direct and regular attendance, and its application is limited to e-learning programs. 
    The student is committed to attending electronic lectures and performing tasks and activities determined by the faculty member, and the percentage of his absence and deprivation from the course is calculated according to the academic 
     regulations in force at the university.​
