Department Details

Department of Anatomy and Histology

Anatomy in all its branches is one of the most important basic medical sciences for students at the College of Human Medicine and similar colleges. Therefore, since its inception, the department has been responsible for carrying out educational tasks for anatomy courses for male and female students of the College of Human Medicine, in addition to the colleges of dentistry, pharmacy, applied medical sciences, and nursing. The department also participates in teaching anatomy to students of dental medicine and surgery, as well as students of the College of Pharmacy. It is worth noting that the Anatomy Department is equipped with all modern equipment to perform the educational and research process in a complete manner. The Anatomy Department has a recently updated museum of anatomy and two electronic anatomy tables (one in the male section and the second in the female section). There are also several halls for human anatomy, out of the belief of the Department of Anatomy at the Faculty of Human Medicine at Hail University in the superiority of using human samples in education over the plastic models used in other medical colleges. Finally, I would like to point out that the members of the Anatomy Department are a distinguished elite who were carefully selected from different countries and nationalities to complement the educational process in the department. We ask God to grant us success and guide our steps in carrying out our educational mission in the most complete manner that pleases Him with us.

The Department of Human Anatomy is committed to providing an academic environment to enhance learning in all aspects of human anatomy in order to ensure quality in medical education, as well as encouraging innovation in the field of anatomical research, its relationship to organ functions, applying what it learns to clinical cases and the ability for continuous learning.

To achieve the above objectives, we ensure that our students should be able to:

Describe the main points related to the development, structure, and function of the healthy human body and each of its major organs.

Identify the different parts of the human body and its main organs in anatomical specimens.

Read and interpret images of the human body obtained by X-ray, ultrasound, computed axial tomography, magnetic resonance imaging and other imaging techniques.

Study of different parts of the living body in order to test their functional integrity.

Identify the main microstructural features of tissues and organs at the level of tissues and ultra-fine formations.

Discussing the implications of the change in the structure and function (pathology) of the human body’s organs and systems in some common diseases.

Demonstrate high ethical standards and demonstrate a high degree of respect when dealing with human remains used in education and research.
