Under the patronage of the Acting President of the University of Hail, Professor Dr. Zaid bin Muhalhil Al-Shammari, the Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Haitham bin Mohammed Al-Saif, launched the World Mental Health Day event under the theme “Towards a Work Environment that Promotes Mental Health,” organized today by the Department of Psychology at the College of Education. The event took place at the Conference Center on the university campus.
The event featured awareness booths from participating entities to support mental health in the workplace, promote positive emotions, and enhance focus and productivity.
Professor Dr. Saud bin Aayed Al-Shammari, Head of the Psychology Department at the College of Education, explained that the event included booths dedicated to supporting mental health in the workplace. Notable among them was the booth on the impact of mental health on the work environment, which discussed the relationship between mental health, productivity levels, and employee satisfaction. There were also booths offering tips for maintaining mental health, one focusing on burnout that explored the causes of job burnout and recovery methods, another providing stress relief strategies for employees, and a booth on the effects of work pressure on mental health, which addressed how to cope with work stress and its psychological impacts.
Professor Dr. Saud Al-Shammari added, “The event emphasizes promoting positive emotions, emotional intelligence, the importance of psychological resilience in dealing with work challenges, mindfulness to increase focus and productivity, as well as the development of positive thinking skills and mutual support among employees. It also explores the role of artificial intelligence in improving mental health through technology.”
Another booth showcased various mental health disorders and how to manage them, while the “Life Begins Outside the Comfort Zone” booth encouraged employees to step outside their comfort zones to discover their potential. The “How Do You Feel?” booth provided a scale to assess anxiety and depression levels, along with motivational statements. Additionally, there was a booth on balancing personal and professional life for working women, addressing the challenges of managing both work and personal life.
This event was organized as part of the university’s commitment to creating a healthy work environment that fosters a balance between professional and personal life, contributing to improved overall work performance and enhanced psychological motivation.
