Department of Arabic language

The Arabic Language Department contributed to graduating generations who had a significant impact in filling the need for teaching. The department looks with an eye to the present and to the future, relying on the ancient Arab heritage. It seeks to continuously develop academic and administrative teaching methods, using the latest technological means, to prepare qualified competencies in Arabic language sciences and literature; To work in the public and private sectors, and to correct oral and written language in the audio and visual media. The department strives diligently to appoint teaching assistants and lecturers, and qualify them for scholarships, to achieve its largest and most important goal of achieving full Saudization by appointing national faculty members.

Word of Head Department

Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds, and blessings and peace be upon the Master of the Prophets and Messengers, and upon all his family and companions, and after: There is no doubt that the Arabic language is the testimony of the speaking generations, the true radiance of the world, the ever-flowing flower of history, and the sublime treasury of light. It is the blazing lamp that illuminates living societies, and the spring from which righteous minds draw. It will remain as lofty as the mountains, preserved by the protection of God Almighty for His Noble Book: (Indeed, it is We who have sent down the Remembrance, and indeed We will preserve it) [Al-Hijr: 9].

The prince of poets did well when he said about her:

He who filled languages with beauties * placed beauty and its secret in the opposite

The Department of Arabic Language, College of Arts and Letters, University of Hail, is one of the scientific edifices and streams of knowledge that seeks to serve students and researchers. This specialty has provided the nation with groups of competent graduates in its long, generous journey, which has participated with the nation’s arms in its journey of distinction and advancement. The ideal goal of the Arabic Language Department is to prepare an academically qualified graduate who preserves the language of the Great Qur’an and the identity of society. The department includes a group of professors and academics who seek to build students’ personalities intellectually and culturally, through an attractive educational environment, and the production of specialized linguistic research. The department includes a bachelor's program, which is concerned with educating students linguistically and providing them with diverse knowledge. Starting from the heritage of the glorious past and the changes of the new present, the graduate program (Master’s) seeks to train students scientifically through the two tracks: language, grammar, and morphology, and literature, rhetoric, and criticism.

In conclusion, we ask God Almighty to make our work sincere for His sake, and to guide us to what is good and rewarding.

Bachelor of Arabic Language Program Message:

Preparing a qualified graduate in the field of the Arabic language, by providing an attractive educational environment, and producing specialized linguistic research to preserve the language of the Holy Qur’an and the identity of society.

Thesis for the Master’s Program in Arabic Language - Literature, Rhetoric, and Criticism:

Preparing scientific cadres qualified literary, critically, and rhetorically who are able to participate effectively in society, compete in the labor market, and produce solid scientific research that contributes to achieving comprehensive development and reaching the knowledge society.

Thesis for the Master’s Program in Arabic Language - Grammar, Grammar, and Morphology:

Preparing linguistically qualified scientific cadres; Able to participate effectively in society, compete in the labor market, and produce solid scientific research that contributes to achieving comprehensive development and reaching the knowledge society.

Academic Standards

1- Knowledge and understanding:

He acquires high skill in understanding concepts, theories, and linguistic, literary, and rhetorical rules.
He is able to know the linguistic and linguistic currents, schools, and literary trends, the reasons for their emergence, their influences, and their transformations.
Explains linguistic and literary phenomena according to the context, circumstances, and political and literary eras.
Knowledge of the origins of ancient and contemporary literary, critical, linguistic, grammatical and rhetorical trends, doctrines and tendencies, and the ability to understand and differentiate between them.

2- Skills:

Employs linguistic rules and literary and intellectual knowledge in dealing with texts in analysis and criticism, in addition to analyzing the sentence and dealing with meanings and methods rhetorically.
He criticizes linguistic, literary, and rhetorical theories and uses this in dealing with literary genres such as stories, novels, biography, prose, and poetry.
The ability to apply text theories, deal with texts, apply terminology to them, deconstruct them, and identify apparent meanings and edges.

3- Values:

It represents the values, opinions and positions contained in the courses that enhance belonging to the Arabic language and the Islamic environment and the morals, principles and legislation that emerge from it.
He internalizes the authentic values contained in texts and courses and is enthusiastic about teaching and reproducing them.
