What is the Mission of the Club?

Invite students to learn about electronics in an attractive and exciting environment.

Give the students the opportunity to apply the theories they have learned in their major programs.

Teach students how to do engineering work within a group and how to share tasks and information

What the Students Do in the Club?

Students will work on different electronics projects in groups of 2 to 3 members. They will be supported and supervised during their experiments in the lab.

s members of the club, each student will have access to an updated and detailed information about all the projects running in the club.

What Type of Projects?

The projects will be selected from the following categories:

Audio Systems (Amplifiers, Synthesizers, Equalizers, mixers)

         Communication Systems (AM/FM Radios, receivers/transmitters, Talky-Walky)

Wireless Systems (remote control, infrared detection)

Digital Systems (traffic light control, LED Board Control)

Lab Instruments (DC Power Supply, Capacimeter, function generator)

Ø         Projects complexity will increase with respect to the skills and expertise gained by the club members.

Ø      For advanced members, more advanced projects such as computers and phone line interfaces can be considered.

Ø      Any other suggestions are welcomed.

How the Students will participate?

Students will be the main actors in all the steps of the projects:

 Ø      Project Specification

Ø      Circuit  Design

Ø      Circuit Simulation

Ø      Part Selection

Ø      PCB Development

Ø      Assembly and Test

Where and When?

Lab works will be held in the labs of the AEE department. (most likely in the B107 and B104 labs).

Four-hour meeting will take place per week on Thursday morning, from 9:00AM to 1:00PM.

         Regular attendance is strongly recommended.

Who are Invited to Join the Club?

The club is open for all HCC students who love electronics. However, AEE students will be privileged due to their specialty.

Due to the limited number of members that can be accepted (~10 members), a GPA-based selection may be required.

After 6 months to one year (depending on the progress of the club), CS students will be invited to join the club to create and maintain its web site, as well as to participate in projects involving software-based and programmable systems.

 Commitment

An annual report will be provided by the club members at the end of each year. This report includes detailed information regarding the structure, the activities, the achievements (completed projects) as well as the future planning of the club.

An Open Day will be organized by the club members  before the end of each year. In this event, demonstrations for completed projects as well as an interactive session with the club members will be held. All faculty members, staff, and HCC students will be invited to attend.

Since the club is sponsored by HCC, all completed projects will be the exclusive property of the college. They will be used for local/national demonstrations, as well as references for future club members. Also selected products can be used in the experiments of the AEE courses.

 Short Term Goals

Teach the students how to:

Ø      Analyze and discuss project specifications

Ø      Search the internet for documentation and literature

q     design examples

q     parts data sheets

Ø      Run a project and work as a group

q     share tasks

q     share information

q     Share resources

Ø      Present and document a technical work

q     write technical reports

q     run demonstrations

q     run presentations (talks and interactive sessions)

 •         Improve the engineering skills of the students

 •         Allow the students to gain a practical experience in electronics

 Long Term Goals

Promote the AEE Department for future AEE students

Participate in regional / national / international competitions for amateur / university electronics clubs.

         Seek publications

Attract students to innovate and do research

Encourage students to join graduate programs
